Day 2: Nature, culture and panoramic views

Ride on the chairlift to an unrivalled view

In the morning, take the chairlift (€5.50 return) to get to the hill above Vianden. At an altitude of 440 metres, you can enjoy a spectacular panorama of the village and the castle. Take the opportunity to relax in the restaurant at the top and enjoy the view.

The Trinitarian church and its cloister

Head back down to the village to visit the Trinitarian church from the XIIIᵉ century. With its rococo interior and the gisant of the last descendant of the Counts of Vianden, this place steeped in history will take you back in time. The adjoining cloister is also open to the public.

Stroll along the Our

Relax after your sightseeing on the banks of the Our, the river that flows through the village. Take the time to watch the ducks and, with a bit of luck, you might spot a grey heron.

The Victor Hugo Museum

Finally, discover the Victor Hugo Museum, which is housed in the house where the author of ‘Les Misérables’ lived. This museum recounts the writer’s moments in exile in Vianden and displays his drawings and poems that were created on site.
